Update: Hillary can't make Oct. 31, so I propose we move the pizza lunch to Oct. 29 at noon. Anyone see a problem with that?

Also, I just heard from David Willey that he's happy to do a mini-show that morning.

See below for notes on yesterday's meeting. Next meeting will be Oct. 29 at noon (with practice pizza). Hopefully the new time will be better for more people. For more information see: http://ups.physics.wisc.edu/physicsfair/

1. Sign Up Sheets - Should be done in pdf format later this week. Bob will stuff in mailboxes. I'll send a departmental e-mail. We'll also put some outside 1209 (my office) and in the UPS office. Sign up sheets will be due Nov. 15.
2. Group Visits - See below for who will visit which groups (mostly, your own group). Please tell the group about the Physics Fair and try to recruit them to participate. Details on ways to participate (i.e. poster, lab tour, demo) are on the sign up sheet. Advertise to your group that if anyone has questions or needs help formulating ideas, we'll have a pizza lunch/information session on Oct. 31 (see below). If you could do your visits before the next meeting, or at least the pizza lunch, it will give them plenty of time to think up ideas.

Astrophysics - Gwyenne
Atomic (Walker) - Brian & Bob
Biophysics - Rebecca
Cosmology - Brian
Neutrino physics (Heeger) - Mike M.
Ice Cube - Karen (& Sean?)
High Energy - Jeff & Mike A.
Pheno - Bret, Ryan, & Lisa
Plasma - Tim & Hillary
Atmospheric Physics - Susan
Astronomy - Jim & Kay
Quantum Computing (Erikkson)- Sam

3. Pizza Lunch/Information Session - Oct. 31 at noon in one of the larger conference rooms. We'll have free pizza and a chance to give potential presenters more information. Hillary and Bret have agreed to bring some of the demos that they've used in the past. I'll set up WoP demos and maybe some other posters I have from things I've done like this. Rebecca will work on making flyers to advertise the event and we'll hang them by the elevators.
4. Public Lectures - Dan Hooper has agreed to give a lecture at 2:30. Still waiting to hear back from David Willey. We'll try to schedule him at 11:30. Both would be in the colloquium room.
5. Funding - Hillary and I met with Sue C. and Baha. We sent a letter (signed by Sue) to the Dean requesting $3500. No word yet on if they'll give us money.
6. Space - No word from Peter on reservations. Sam will try to reserve through UPS and see if he has better luck.

Thanks!
