MentorNet

Since 1998, UW-Madison has been participating in MentorNet, an electronic
mentoring program that pairs primarily women and underrepresented minority
undergraduate and graduate students, and postdocs (all referred to as
“protégés”) with mentors from industry and academia. MentorNet provides
protégés and mentors with training, coaching and support for an 8-month
mentoring period. Since its founding in 1997, MentorNet has matched nearly
17,000 protégés and mentors.

As a UW-Madison student studying science, math or engineering, you can get
“real world” information, encouragement, and advice from professionals in
your field through MentorNet. Just sign up for MentorNet at:

Classical Mechanics Sample Problems

I'm writing to you to let you know about a classical mechanics textbook
I've recently completed, which I think you'll find both educational and
entertaining. The main feature of this book is the enormous number of
worked problems (and believe me, these are anything but the standard
run-of-the-mill type!). I would have loved to have had such a book back in
my undergraduate days, and I'm hoping that there are many other students
out there now who will enjoy it. Some sample chapters and other info can
be found at:

How to Join UPS

We serve all UW-Madison students, those majoring or interested in physics. There are two ways to join:

  1. If you have a google account, go to our google group page, and click 'apply for group membership' on the right hand column.
  2. If not, click the contact form link on the left, and select the Join UPS option from the menu. Please give us your wiscmail address for verification.

After that, an officer will collect the annual membership fee of $5 and you will be put on the ups-members email list. You will receive an email notifying you that an access card for the club room can be picked up at the UW campus police station (formerly the credit union, behind Camp Randall stadium).
